Florida Keys Solar One Encourages Monroe County Residents Go Solar with FKEC Solar Loan Program

Marathon, Florida November 15, 2017 – Hurricane Irma showed Monroe County home and business owners how dependent our society is on electricity, communications water. With electrical lines cut by downed trees, broken water lines, no internet or cell phones too the Florida Keys were set back in time a few decades for a few weeks.

For some Monroe County Residents Hurricane Irma did not put them in the dark. These people have solar panels with battery back up systems installed by Florida Keys Solar One.

“Solar is a nice option and eliminates the desperation of finding fuel for a generator when the big winds come” shared founder Ray Johnson. “The price of solar has plummeted but some still find solar a little out of reach. This is why we at Florida Keys Solar One encourage Monroe County residents to Go Solar with FKEC Solar Loan Program.

FKEC approved members may receive a loan up to $20,000 for a solar panel system connecting to the FKEC grid. This includes solar with battery storage. The solar has to be installed by a solar contractor like Florida Keys Solar One. The program is offered to both residential and commercial customers, and repayment of the loan is 10 years or less with no pre-pay penalty.

Florida Solar One client John Massi of Marathon Key was the first residential homeowner to obtain a FKEC Solar Loan. “We heard about the FKEC Solar Loan Program and are proud to be the first their first customer. Because of the FKEC Solar Loan Program we can afford to add a battery pack to keep our home powered if the grid goes down again”.

Florida Keys Solar One has seen a big increase in solar related work due to Hurricane Irma. “We have crews on the roof every day” shares Sales Manager Oliver Solorzano. “Between repairing work done by others, the focus Hurricane Irma has brought to the solar industry and the FKEC Solar Loan Program, we expect our solar capacity and workload (in the Keys) to double in 2018”.
